About the Role

1. Oversee daily activities in the kitchen including washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils including sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
2. Properly clean and sanitize all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
3. Assisting the cook/production team of the day with the preparation of meals.
4. Actively engage in making, baking, packaging and presentation of Iraa goodies including stock-keeping.
5. Handle Deliveries e.g. lias with delivery person and ensure a satisfactory delivery process for the clients
6. Sell Iraa goods at various farmers' markets, make calls to clients, take note and record consumer feedback.
7. Attend all meetings where required as part of team compliance.
8. Find new clients and opportunities for Iraa products.
9. Reach out to different artists and establish who wants to sell with Iraa as well as those who would like to use the kitchen.
10. Handle marketing share/ distribute marketing material with regards to Iraa on digital and physical platforms.
11. Any other tasks presented that might not be mentioned in this Job description.

Requirements

  • An individual who is disciplined, can hold themselves accountable and work under minimal supervision.

  • One who is creative, innovative and has strong marketing skills including social media marketing.

  • An excellent time keeper, team player who can follow instructions and demonstrate a willingness to learn.

  • Have a high level of good personal hygiene and are keen on quality.

  • Relevant qualifications in hospitality and catering at a minimum of certificate level would be favourable.

  • Are able to comply with food and safety regulations.

  • Have effective communication skills. Can express themselves in both English and Luganda.


About the Company

Iraa -The Granary is a space of engagement that encourages creative, collective and experimental explorations into the subject of archiving as approached from artistic lenses in the Ugandan/East African context. These explorations are often carried out in three phases that include; kitchen@the Granary sessions, The Food basket and upcoming community kitchen and shop engagements. Iraa activities are community driven, led and greatly depend on dedicated and generous team playing to be executed and so we are in search of an individual who can benefit from an environment of this sort.
